Your treatment options depend on your diagnosis of Mild, Moderate or Severe Sleep Apnoea. 

Also variables which may be present:

  • Snoring
  • Bruxism (tooth grinding)
  • Other medical conditions which you may have, for example cardiovascular and/or neurological conditions.

It is important to speak with your doctor about your treatment options, once you have had a sleep test, with clarity on your diagnosis as mild, moderate or severe sleep apnoea, with or without Snoring and Sleep Bruxism.

Snoring and Sleep Bruxism are often the first indicators of a Sleep Disordered breathing condition, with unexplained daytime tiredness and interrupted sleep patterns.

Keeping a Sleep Diary can help clarify your symptoms and facilitate an overview for discussion with your doctor. 

Treatment options in the management of Sleep Disordered Breathing, Sleep apnoea include: 

  1. CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure)
  • A face or nasal mask worn at night which blows air into your airway, to keep the airway open, a fixed setting.
  • Considered the first treatment especially for the treatment of Severe Sleep Apnoea.

  • Moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnoea
  • Patients needing reliable, highly effective therapy

  1. Oral Appliance therapy 

    Mandibular Advancement Device therapy

  • A Custom-made Dental Device system worn during sleep
  • Gently moves the lower jaw forward in a managed programme to maintain airway patency 
  • Can be measured to reduces Apnoea, Snoring and Sleep Bruxism,

  • Mild to Moderate Sleep Apnoea
  • Patients presenting with Sleep Apnoea who also have anxiety, claustrophobia, Sleep bruxism, vertigo and several other conditions, who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy
